High international demand for Swedish ASKO appliances

In 2006 Asko Cylinda increased its appliance sales by 10% worldwide. Today the company is the only remaining manufacturer in Sweden of dishwashers, washing machines and tumble dryers for domestic use.
“We live on our Scandinavian heritage, our quality and our innovative solutions,” says President Staffan Billinger.
The company broke its sales record in 2006, and several exciting new products are being launched in 2007.
“We’re investing a further 100 million Swedish kronor in product development over the next few years,” says Billinger.
Asko Cylinda specialises in environmentally friendly, innovative quality products with a Scandinavian design – something which is appreciated by customers all over the world.
“With 80% of sales outside Sweden, we’re a company with a strong international profile,” says Jonas Lidberg, head of sales and marketing. “Other important markets alongside Sweden are the rest of the Nordic region, Australia and North America, as well as the Netherlands, Russia and New Zealand.”
The company’s success is largely due to product development combined with high quality. The Scandinavian design ideal has become increasingly important, as have function and simplicity.
“Our appliances should last and be easy to use, but they should also be an integral component in a modern interior style in the home,” Lidberg explains.
“In a stressed-out world, people have less time than they used to. When they come home they want to spend time with family and friends, or just relax and take it easy. That’s why there’s such a demand for quiet, energy-efficient appliances that save time and make life a little easier.”
Asko Cylinda AB is owned by the Antonio Merloni Group of Italy. The company has about 575 employees and a turnover of SEK 1 billion.
