ASKO Australia made water saving challenge a great success

A Water-Saving Challenge made by ASKO in Australia helped the “House & Garden” magazine win a prestigious media award – “Consumer Magazine of the year”. ASKO was looking for three households to compete in a challenge to reduce water usage. They contenders were not only given a fabulous possibility to save both money and the environment, by reducing water consumption in their daily life, but also a chance to win $10,000 in cash.

How did it work?

The readers of the “House & Garden” were challenged to justify why they would like to take part in the Water-Saving challenge.

Each household received an ASKO dishwasher and washing machine.

Three contenders were chosen and they each received a water-efficient ASKO dishwasher and washing machine. They also received the latest bathroom, kitchen, laundry and garden fittings to help them reduce water consumption over a three month period. “House & Garden” Magazine then followed the families and measured their progress. The household with the most innovative water-saving ideas and greatest water savings won a $10.000 bonus courtesy from ASKO.

ASKO in Australia has for a long time used the phrase “Asko saves water” in their marketing and PR work. The “House & Garden” add campaign is a brilliant example of how ASKO Australia continuously work with and have taken ownership of an important marketing tool and then use it in campaigns where the consumer helps to do just that – save water.
